Buying a new home is exciting but it isn't without its challenges. Buyers may find a house in the right neighborhood or one at the right price, but then have to compromise on style or amenities. That was the case when Beth George was shopping for her new home in Lubbock.
"I bought the house with the intention of remodeling the kitchen right away," says Beth, who moved into her new home in August. "I loved the home's location and the open floorplan, but the kitchen was sadly outdated. The worn cabinets, white laminate countertops, old appliances, and a sink that was pitted and stained definitely had to go – the sooner, the better!"
So it was that just a few months after moving in, Beth began the process of redoing her new kitchen with DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Lubbock.
"I interviewed several contractors, but DreamMaker and owner Steve Betts really stood out for me," she says. "I would talk about my ideas for the type of kitchen I wanted, but Steve was the only contractor who understood the overall feel I wanted and focused in on the details from the every beginning. He was the only one, for example, who asked how I wanted the hinges on the cabinet doors to look. That attention to detail told me that I would be in good hands with DreamMaker."
In February work began on remodeling Beth's kitchen. Since the kitchen opens directly to home's main living space, she wanted a design that was bright and open, maximizing the space and function in her small home.
In addition to repainting all the cabinets white and replacing the old cabinet and drawer fronts with new ones, DreamMaker installed a new sink, tile backsplash and countertops. New appliances and a can light to replace an outdated fixture above the sink completed the remodel. The new kitchen is bright and looks even larger than before, just what Beth hoped for.
"I appreciate that Steve was able to provide suggestions for the best choices to fit not only the look I wanted but also to stay within my budget," she says. "I feel like the money I invested in the remodel was well-spent to add both function that I can enjoy now and resale value for the future."
And working with DreamMaker was easy, she says. Not only did they keep her home as clean and neat as possible during the construction process, they were happy to answer questions and work around her schedule.
"Tyler was excellent to work with," Beth says. "He would text or leave me messages about what to expect and when he would be there at the house. I had faith that he would take good care of my home."
Now that the kitchen is complete, Beth is looking forward to many years in her new home and is already planning few more remodeling projects in the future.
"I'll definitely be calling on DreamMaker again," she says. "I have a guest bath that is sorely in need of a new look!"
